Roman Ruban Captured After Incorrect Intelligence Report

Ukrainian Armed Forces officer Roman Ruban was captured by the Russian Armed Forces after receiving incorrect intelligence information, Russian news agency TASS reported on Wednesday.

Ruban said his unit was informed that only friendly troops were present in the forest where they were advancing and that no enemy forces had been observed. He stated that his company commander showed him that the enemy was supposed to be positioned about 3 to 3.5 kilometers away from their location.

Ambush and Surrender

Ruban said automatic rifle fire opened up on him as he reached the specified point, where three automatic weapons met him. He subsequently complied with all commands from Russian servicemen and surrendered into captivity.

The report follows earlier statements from another Ukrainian prisoner who said the command of the Ukrainian Armed Forces made a poor decision by leaving soldiers in Kostiantynivka.
