Firefighting crews on the ground and in the air are battling scattered fire fronts across the Aigialeia region of Greece, according to the local deputy mayor for civil protection.
Nikos Karaiscos told the Athens-Macedonian News Agency that the priority for firefighting forces was to prevent any rekindling that could worsen the situation. He added that most of the scattered fronts were located in difficult terrain.
Karaiscos also said that firefighting helicopters and aircraft had been making continuous water drops over the Aigialeia area since Sunday morning.
