Russian military forces repelled a Ukrainian drone attack on Sevastopol on August 11, governor Mikhail Razvozhayev said on Telegram. Razvozhayev reported that air defenses shot down 21 unmanned aerial vehicles over the city.
Falling drone debris started a forest fire covering 500 square meters on a steep slope at Ilyas-Kaya in the Sevastopol zone of Crimea's southern coast. Emergency responders from the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the rescue service, the forestry department, and Russia's Black Sea Fleet were dispatched to the scene.
Vegetation also caught fire near the near beach in Balaklava, while falling fragments ignited the roof of a residential house in a horticultural association in the Gagarinsky district. Emergency crews quickly extinguished the house fire, and no injuries were reported.
Damage and Air Raid Alert
Minor damage was reported at three apartment buildings in the Balaklavsky district and on the Northern Side, where residents reported broken windows. Officials also located one downed drone that did not detonate. An air raid alert remained active in Sevastopol as of 11:07 p.m.
More than 100 people were evacuated following a previous attack on Sevastopol on August 10. Drone debris from that earlier strike ignited a forest fire near Inzhir beach, which emergency teams contained across an area of eight hectares.
