Spain extended their unbeaten run to 40 matches with a 4-1 victory over Croatia in the UEFA Nations League as Lamine Yamal scored twice in Seville.

Spain reach 40 games unbeaten with 4-1 win over Croatia

Spain reached 40 consecutive matches unbeaten on Tuesday after defeating Croatia 4-1 at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan stadium in Seville to maintain their perfect record in UEFA Nations League League A Group 3.

Lamine Yamal delivered a star performance for the reigning European champions, scoring two goals and providing an assist to secure Spain's second victory in two group games.

Head coach Luis de la Fuente saw his team confirm their international dominance just days after earning a victory against England at Wembley Stadium. The result leaves Spain top of Group 3 with six points from two matches, extending an undefeated streak that has raised questions across football about who will be able to halt their momentum.

Spain, who won UEFA Euro 2024 under De la Fuente, have established themselves as one of international football's most dominant teams. Yamal, the Barcelona winger who starred in Spain's European Championship campaign, proved to be a constant headache for the Croatian defense throughout the match in Seville.

England earn first win against Czechia in Prague

England secured their first points of the Nations League campaign by defeating Czechia 2-0 at the Fortuna Arena in Prague. The victory allowed the Three Lions to recover from their opening match defeat against Spain.

Czechia were forced to play with ten men from the 25th minute following the dismissal of Pavel Sulc, who received a red card. England capitalised on the numerical advantage to claim all three points and open their account in League A Group 3.

England sit second in Group 3 with three points, tied with Croatia while Czechia remain bottom without a point. The Fortuna Arena in Prague serves as the home stadium for Slavia Prague and regularly hosts major international matches for the Czech national team.

Switzerland maintain perfect start in League B

In League B Group 1, Switzerland continued their perfect start to the tournament with a 3-0 victory against Scotland at Hampden Park in Glasgow. Murat Yakin's side took full advantage after Scotland defender Jack Hendry was sent off in the 11th minute.

The win gave Switzerland six points from two matches at the top of their group. Scotland, playing at their national stadium in Glasgow, suffered a heavy defeat after opening their campaign with a draw. Switzerland have consistently reached the knockout stages of major international tournaments in recent years under Yakin's guidance.

Albania top League C Group 1 after San Marino victory

Albania climbed to the top of League C Group 1 following a comfortable 3-0 win against San Marino at the Stadio Olimpico in Serravalle. The visiting team effectively wrapped up the victory in the first half by establishing a comfortable lead.

Albania moved to six points from two matches, taking advantage of a slip-up by Finland, who were held to a 0-0 draw by Belarus earlier in the day. The result leaves Albania two points clear of second-placed Finland in the group standings.

San Marino, one of UEFA's smallest member associations, play their home fixtures at the Stadio Olimpico in Serravalle. Albania have continued their positive momentum in European football following their appearance at UEFA Euro 2024.

Iceland and Slovenia secure key group wins

In League C Group 4, Iceland recorded their first victory of the competition with a 3-0 win away against Luxembourg. The result gave Iceland four points from their opening two group matches.

Slovenia made strong use of home advantage in League B Group 1 by securing a 2-0 win over North Macedonia. Slovenia now sit second in League B Group 1 with four points, behind group leaders Switzerland.

The opening stage of the matchday concluded with a 1-1 draw between Moldova and the Faroe Islands in League C Group 3, with both teams earning a point. Slovakia lead Group 3 after defeating Kazakhstan 2-1.
