Sportswear fashion shifts toward elevated off-duty style

Sportswear fashion is moving beyond traditional athleisure this season into polished off-duty looks highlighted by Marie Claire at Mediterranean Cosmos.

Sportswear fashion shifts toward elevated off-duty style

Sportswear has adopted a more refined character this season, with Marie Claire highlighting elevated off-duty collections at the Mediterranean Cosmos shopping centre.

The fashion publication reported that while comfort remains a central priority in everyday dressing, casual wear is shifting away from a strictly athletic aesthetic. Retailers are focusing on more deliberate garments that demonstrate how clothes worn during relaxed daily hours can look elegant and carefully styled.

According to the report, the trend updates classic leisurewear for broader public settings without losing the ease of casual clothing. The magazine noted that retail outlets at the Mediterranean Cosmos complex in northern Greece are stocking the primary seasonal items that reflect this shift.

Evolution of athleisure fashion

The development marks the latest phase in the expansion of athleisure, a broader style category that originally brought sportswear into everyday wardrobes. Over the past decade, garments once reserved for gyms and running tracks, including tracksuits, hoodies, leggings and trainers, became standard casual wear across the fashion industry.

The elevated off-duty look adapts that foundation by combining relaxed fits with structured tailoring and higher quality materials. Fashion analysts define the style by its use of clean lines, neutral colour palettes and versatile layering, allowing casual pieces to transition between remote work, travel and social gatherings.

Retail presence at Mediterranean Cosmos

Mediterranean Cosmos, located in the eastern suburbs of Thessaloniki, is the largest enclosed commercial shopping centre in northern Greece. Opened in 2005 near the regional airport, the centre hosts more than two hundred retail outlets, including international fashion brands, department stores, cafes and entertainment venues.

Marie Claire, founded in France in 1937, operates international editions across the globe covering runway trends, beauty, culture and practical shopping guides. The Greek edition published the seasonal style showcase through the national news website Protothema on Tuesday.

Where to find seasonal collections

Marie Claire directed shoppers looking for full garment recommendations and store locations to its official website, marieclaire.gr, where the complete shopping guide is published.

The publication confirmed that the selected off-duty fashion ranges are available across participating stores at the Thessaloniki shopping complex for the current season.
