Thousands of residents in Ulan-Ude lost water supply after an accident during utility work, news agency RIA Novosti reported, citing the local water utility press service.

Specialists discovered a leak on a fire hydrant while draining a water conduit on a city street. A water utility spokesperson said officials organized a temporary shutdown to fix the damage.

Affected neighbourhoods and emergency supply

The water cut affected 700 private houses, 76 apartment buildings, and three social facilities in the Arshan and Lysaya Gora microdistricts. A water utility representative said crews are fixing the breakdown and confirmed that water delivery has been organized for residents.

Earlier, an accident left more than 22,000 residents of Vladivostok without water supply.
