Wisła Kraków defeated Wisła Płock 2-1 at Reymonta Street in Friday's round three Ekstraklasa fixture before more than 30,000 spectators. The victory marked the home side's second home win of the current season.
Kraków manager Mariusz Jop handed striker Angel Rodado his first start of the season after two appearances as a substitute. Positioned behind forward Jordi Sanchez, Rodado opened the scoring in the 14th minute when his shot from outside the penalty area deflected off Marcus Haglind-Sangre and deceived goalkeeper Rafał Leszczyński.
Wisła Płock responded 14 minutes later through Said Hamulić. Hamulić collected a pass from Dani Pacheco, capitalized on poor positioning by the hosts' defense, and beat goalkeeper Marcel Łubik in a one-on-one situation.
The home team restored their lead in the 37th minute during a goalmouth scramble. Sanchez reacted most alertly in the box to score his fourth goal of the season, sending Kraków into the halftime break with a 2-1 advantage.

Fewer chances occurred after the restart, although both Sanchez and Hamulić missed opportunities to add to their tallies, while Marcin Kamiński struck the post for Płock late in the match. The result remained unchanged from the 37th minute.
According to calculations by Wojciech Frączek, Wisła Płock equalled a 17-year Ekstraklasa record during the match by conceding at least one goal in 35 consecutive away fixtures.
Both teams return to Ekstraklasa action on August 16 at 20:15. Wisła Kraków will play away against Górnik Zabrze, while Wisła Płock host Lech Poznań.
