Polish President Karol Nawrocki has pardoned Legia Warsaw fan leader Piotr Staruchowicz, ending a two-year stadium ban imposed by the District Court in Lublin. Staruchowicz, known as Staruch, received the ban following a match between Motor Lublin and Legia Warsaw for being in an area not intended for the public. Nawrocki previously stated on Kanał Zero in December that a pardon was possible before officially granting it in recent days.
Staruchowicz will return to his stadium duties during Legia Warsaw's upcoming away match against Korona Kielce and is scheduled to appear on the Żyleta stand on August 29 when head coach Papszun's team plays Śląsk Wrocław. Writing on the Nieznani Sprawcy profile, Staruchowicz noted he had told friends he would return before Mileta scored a goal. He said the hardest part of the ban was not watching Legia's autumn performances on television, which made him appreciate standing with his back to the pitch again, but being unable to be in the stands with fellow supporters.
Prime Minister Criticism
Prime Minister Donald Tusk criticized the pardon on X, listing it among the top five worst decisions of Nawrocki's first year in office. Tusk ranked the decision alongside SAFE, civil partnerships, cryptocurrencies, and Karol Nawrocki's fuel prices at petrol stations.
Legia Warsaw currently leads the Ekstraklasa table after winning both of their opening matches. The team defeated Pogoń Szczecin 1-0 in the first round and secured a 3-1 victory against Zagłębie Lubin in the second round.
