Legia Warsaw are in advanced talks to sign Sparta Prague striker Jan Kuchta as the Polish club seeks offensive reinforcements for the new season. Czech website infotbal.cz first reported months ago that Kuchta could move to Legia.
Tomasz Włodarczyk of Meczyki.pl reported on X that although the transfer is not finalized, negotiations are advanced. He stated that Kuchta's representatives are speaking with other clubs, but Legia is determined to secure the player. Włodarczyk noted that the probability of success is high, with more information expected on Thursday.
Training status and career history
Aleksander Bernard of Sport.pl reported that Kuchta did not train with Sparta's first team in recent days, staying in rhythm with the reserve squad. Bernard added that the terms under which the transfer would take place remain unknown.
Kuchta produced 15 goals and 11 assists in 45 matches for Sparta Prague last season. Legia would mark the third foreign club of his career, following spells at Russian side Lokomotiv Moscow from 2022 to 2023 and Danish team Midtjylland from 2024 to 2025. He has also scored three goals in 31 international appearances for the Czech Republic.

Legia currently have Mileta Rajović, Łukasz Zjawiński, Rafał Adamski, and Antonio Čolak in attack, though Čolak is expected to depart Warsaw. Coach Marek Papszun has guided Legia to a strong start in the 2026-2027 season with two straight wins.
Legia secured a 1-0 road win over Pogoń Szczecin after a scoreless first half, then earned a 3-1 home victory against Zagłębie Lubin after being tied 1-1 at halftime. The team will play their third PKO BP Ekstraklasa match away to Korona Kielce on Saturday at 8:15 p.m.
