Xiaomi unveiled the Redmi 17 4G and Redmi 17 5G, budget phones with 7,500mAh batteries and 50MP cameras, priced from 669 ringgit in Malaysia.

Xiaomi has announced its Redmi 17 lineup, adding two budget smartphones: the Redmi 17 4G and the Redmi 17 5G. The two devices share the same design and most specifications, with the key differences lying in their processors, storage type and fifth-generation network support.

Both phones feature 6.9-inch IPS displays with a 120Hz refresh rate and 7,500mAh batteries. They support 45W wired fast charging and can also charge other devices via cable at up to 22.5W.

Chipsets and storage

The Redmi 17 4G runs on a MediaTek Helio G91-Ultra processor with eMMC 5.1 storage, while the Redmi 17 5G uses a Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 chip and faster UFS 2.2 storage. Both models come in configurations with 4GB or 6GB of RAM and 128GB or 256GB of internal storage.

Cameras and other features

Other features include a 50-megapixel main camera, an 8-megapixel front camera, a programmable RGB notification light, an NFC module, IP64 dust and water resistance, a side-mounted fingerprint scanner and a 3.5mm headphone jack.

In Malaysia, the Redmi 17 4G is priced from 669 ringgit, or about $163, while the Redmi 17 5G starts at 769 ringgit, or roughly $188.
