Former La Bella Luz musical director César Sánchez Chavesta has broken his silence from hiding after singer Naldy Saldaña reported him for alleged improper touching. He released a statement through his defense lawyer requesting that the public and media respect his right to the presumption of innocence.
Radio station La Karibeña reported that it obtained access to the document shared by the legal representative of Sánchez. In the statement, Sánchez asserted that any complaint involving alleged acts against individual freedom and personal integrity must be handled with maximum seriousness. He added that the legal rights of all parties involved must be guaranteed while observing due process.
Sánchez stated that he will abide by the decision made by the management of the cumbia group to temporarily remove him from all band activities while the facts are clarified. He said that he will answer to competent authorities regarding the allegations made against him.
Legal statement and band removal
The statement noted that his temporary removal will allow investigations to proceed unimpeded. Sánchez explained that this step ensures competent authorities can evaluate all elements of conviction and evidence presented during the legal process.
Sánchez also urged that the public approach to the case remain objective. He requested that the complaint filed by Saldaña not be viewed as resolved before formal authorities analyze the proof and establish whether any legal responsibility exists under the law.
Following the removal of Sánchez from the band, new owner Óscar Junior assumed leadership of La Bella Luz. The cumbia group returned to the stage with a concert in Tarapoto, where Óscar Junior made a new proposal to Saldaña following her report against the former director.
