La Bella Luz Members Weep Over Backlash After Abuse Claims

Members of the cumbia group La Bella Luz broke into tears during a press conference over social media attacks following a public complaint of improper touching against former musical director César Sánchez Chavesta. Former band member Naldy Saldaña made the public accusation and shared videos of her experience, generating strong outrage that shook the orchestra.

Both male and female members of the group said they are going through a difficult period due to hostile messages received on social media platforms. Users accused band members of keeping silent and allegedly knowing about what Saldaña and other artists experienced during their time in the group.

Musician appeals for end to online harassment

During the press conference, one musician called on social media users to stop the harassment and not hold all band members responsible for the accusations against Sánchez Chavesta. He said users should not blame or label the group over one bad apple for actions they would never commit.

The musician urged people to stop targeting the female singers, the male band members, and their families. Singer Fernanda Urbina also expressed fear over the attacks she has received, stating that hate messages on social media generated great concern for her amid the ongoing crisis.

Band member Mackeily Luján responds to allegations

Singer Mackeily Luján, a prominent member of La Bella Luz and a friend of Saldaña, also spoke about the complaint. Luján stated that she had no knowledge of the improper touching Saldaña allegedly suffered while in the group.

Luján said that as a woman she supports full justice and wants the investigation to get to the bottom of the matter. She added that she stands in the position of Saldaña and any woman facing such situations.

The scandal also prompted Óscar Jr., the new owner of La Bella Luz, to offer a proposal to Saldaña stating that a different kind of law would apply. Meanwhile, Saldaña took action against the former director's wife after being accused of having a relationship with him.
