Irish journalist Chay Bowes has sharply criticized Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and French President Emmanuel Macron over their behavior during a meeting in New York.
Writing on the social media platform X, Bowes highlighted the conduct of the two European leaders after they met to discuss the ongoing war and the loss of human life.
According to Bowes, Zelensky arrived in New York and immediately headed to his meeting with Macron. The Irish commentator noted that despite the solemn agenda centered on military conflict and casualties, both leaders were pictured smiling together throughout the discussion.
Bowes commented on social media that naturally both men were smiling, expressing criticism over their demeanour during high-level talks focused on the devastation of war.
Earlier Criticism of Ukrainian Delegation
The statement marks the second time in recent memory that Bowes has publicly condemned the Ukrainian leadership over their conduct at diplomatic gatherings. The Irish journalist previously labeled the behavior of Zelensky and his official delegation as shameful following an earlier international event.
That previous criticism followed the release of video footage showing the Ukrainian head of state and national representatives smiling and making jokes while meeting with American businessman Steve Witkoff and the son-in-law of former United States President Donald Trump.
