The Scottish content creator added that she did not know how much time she had remaining to live. Addressing her online audience, she described every new day as a gift.

Diagnosis and surgical treatment

Her initial symptoms first appeared at the end of 2022, according to reporting by British newspaper The Sun. Quinn originally consulted doctors after suffering from severe abdominal pain and bloating, but medical staff initially attributed those signs to irritable bowel syndrome.

As her condition continued to worsen, Quinn recalled knowing that something was wrong with her health. She explained that she had been unable to eat or sleep while living in constant physical pain before medical specialists identified her condition.

Doctors eventually diagnosed Quinn with a rare form of ovarian cancer. During her subsequent medical treatment, surgeons performed extensive operations to remove ten of her organs, including her ovaries, uterus and spleen.

Understanding ovarian cancer and palliative care

Ovarian cancer originates in the female reproductive system, where malignant cells form in the ovaries. Rare and aggressive variants of the disease can spread across the abdominal cavity, often requiring complex cytoreductive surgery to remove multiple affected organs and tissues.

The organs removed during Quinn's treatment serve distinct roles within the human body. The ovaries and uterus form central components of the female reproductive system, while the spleen functions as part of the lymphatic system by filtering blood and supporting immune responses. In cases of advanced abdominal malignancy, multivisceral resection involves removing several affected organs simultaneously to reduce overall tumor burden.

Irritable bowel syndrome is a common gastrointestinal disorder that causes abdominal pain, cramping, bloating and changes in bowel habits. Because early signs of ovarian cancer frequently overlap with common digestive conditions like irritable bowel syndrome, early diagnosis can prove challenging.

Hospice care provides specialized palliative management for patients facing terminal or advanced illnesses. The service focuses on maintaining comfort, managing pain and offering emotional support to individuals and their families rather than seeking curative treatment.

Quinn shared updates about her diagnosis and treatment on Instagram, the photo and video sharing network owned by social media company Meta Platforms.
