Juntos por el Perú parliamentary spokesperson Ernesto Zunini has requested that the party discipline commission immediately investigate and temporarily suspend deputy Julián Pérez Malqui over allegations of domestic violence against his former partner.
Zunini submitted an official letter on August 2 to the members of the party panel, urging them to take action while investigations proceed. In the document, the lawmaker stated that the reported events are of special gravity and constitute conduct incompatible with ethical principles and respect toward women. He requested that the commission act under current party regulations to process the case through established procedures.
Police detention in San Miguel
The disciplinary request follows the detention of Pérez Malqui, who spent 48 hours held at the San Miguel police station after his ex-partner reported him for alleged psychological violence. According to official information, the woman arrived at the police facility visibly affected and asked to use the restroom after suffering physical discomfort.
Upon his release from the police station, Pérez Malqui denied all accusations of domestic violence and psychological aggression. The lawmaker stated that he deeply rejected the claims made against him, added that he had remained respectful of all legal procedures, and promised to continue collaborating with investigators.
Prior conviction in Cusco
In addition to the current investigation, Pérez Malqui carries a suspended prison sentence for causing serious injuries to a child and her mother in La Concepción, Cusco. In that previous incident, the deputy hit the family with a vehicle and showed signs of drunkenness according to the police report.
