The Consumer Product Safety Commission has issued an urgent recall for 213,500 Goody King magnetic building sets after broken parts left two children needing emergency surgery.
Hong Kong importer Yi Suen Commerce received 27 reports of the magnetic cubes breaking or opening, allowing internal magnets to become loose and accessible to young children. Two children who ingested magnets from the broken parts required emergency operations to remove them.

The recall covers Goody King Magnetic Building Cubes and Blocks sold in sets of 45, 56, 100, 120, 150 and 300 pieces. They were sold in a variety of styles and themes, including forest, galaxy, farm, castle, unicorn, woods and dinosaur designs.
The cubes contain small, powerful magnets that allow children to stick the blocks together to create three-dimensional structures. The US Consumer Product Safety Commission is an independent federal regulatory agency that monitors consumer products and issues public safety recalls.

Details of the Goody King toy recall
The recalled toys were manufactured in China and distributed in the United States through Amazon.com. The online retailer sold the sets from January 2024 through July 2026 for between $17 and $50.
Federal regulators announced the full list of recalled items and their identifying model numbers last week on the official CPSC website. The agency advised consumers to immediately stop using the toy sets and contact Yi Suen Commerce for a full refund.
Dangers of high-powered magnet ingestion
Swallowing high-powered magnets poses severe internal risks to children. When swallowed, the magnets can attract each other or other metal objects through tissue walls inside the body.
Trapped magnets can lodge in the digestive system, resulting in intestinal perforations, twisting, bowel blockages, blood poisoning and death. Blood poisoning, or sepsis, is a severe medical condition caused by the body's overwhelming response to an infection.
Additional magnetic toy recalls on Amazon
The action follows two other recent recalls involving magnetic toys sold on Amazon.com. Last week, the CPSC recalled 123 units of CuberShop Magnetic Stickerless Speed Cubes because the sets were packaged with loose magnets that posed a similar ingestion hazard.
The Speed Cubes were manufactured in China and sold on Amazon.com from April 2025 through June 2025 for between $20 and $25. No injuries or incidents have been reported in connection with the CuberShop recall.
Earlier this month, regulators recalled nearly 1,000 PIXLABBY Silicone Sensory Magnetic Fidget Sliders. Manufactured in China and sold on Amazon.com from October 2025 through May 2026 for about $10, the fidget sliders contained high-powered magnets that could become loose.
One child was hospitalized after gaining access to two magnets inside a PIXLABBY slider and swallowing them. No other injuries have been reported for the fidget slider recall.
