The price of Apple's flagship iPhone 17 Pro Max smartphone has fallen to 88,000 rubles in Russia, according to tech outlet Hi-Tech Mail.ru.

Journalists at the publication found that smaller retail shops have begun offering the top tier device with a base storage capacity of 256 gigabytes for 88,000 rubles, bringing its price below the 90,000 ruble threshold. At the start of the summer, the same model sold for at least 105,000 rubles in similar stores.

Prices remain higher on major online marketplaces. Depending on seller commissions and customs duties for overseas delivery, the smartphone is currently priced between 97,000 and 112,000 rubles. Analysts at the publication suggested that retailers are discounting the iPhone 17 series to clear out inventory ahead of the upcoming iPhone 18 launch.

Hi-Tech Mail.ru is a prominent Russian technology news portal that monitors consumer electronics pricing, hardware releases, and mobile market trends across domestic retail channels.

Hardware and Technical Specifications

The iPhone 17 Pro Max features a body constructed from aluminum and glass with an integrated cooling system. The device is built around a 6.9-inch LTPO Super Retina XDR OLED display and runs on Apple's custom A19 Pro processor.

The handset comes equipped with 12 gigabytes of random-access memory and a minimum of 256 gigabytes of internal storage. Its camera system consists of three lenses with 48-megapixel resolution on each sensor, while battery capacity stands at 4,823 milliampere-hours.

The Pro Max designation represents the largest display size and highest specification tier within Apple's flagship smartphone lineup. Organic light-emitting diode (OLED) screens with Low-Temperature Polycrystalline Oxide (LTPO) backplanes allow dynamic refresh rates to conserve power, while higher RAM capacity enables smoother multitasking across demanding applications.

Wider Market Trends

The price cut on the flagship model follows earlier discounts on other devices in the series within the Russian market. In mid-August, the more affordable iPhone 17e smartphone also experienced a price drop, with retailers offering the device for between 44,000 and 45,000 rubles.

Apple Inc., based in Cupertino, California, releases new iterations of its iPhone family annually, with entry-level and compact models offering lower price points alongside premium flagship variants.
