Xiaomi reveals SU7 electric vehicles for 2027 German debut

Chinese technology manufacturer Xiaomi presented its SU7 and SU7 Ultra electric vehicles at the IFA 2026 trade fair in Berlin as it prepares to enter the European market in 2027. The display marks a major milestone in the company's automotive expansion outside China, with sales scheduled to start first in Germany.

To support its commercial entry into Germany, Xiaomi has signed memorandums of cooperation with eight major German car dealers. These retail partners are expected to form the foundation of the company's future sales and service network across the country.

The manufacturer showcased the vehicles under its Human x Car x Home framework, a technology concept designed to integrate electric transport with smartphones and smart home devices. The exhibition provided European consumers with their first official look at both the updated SU7 sedan and the high-performance SU7 Ultra.

German Market Entry and Model Details

The SU7 Ultra serves as the flagship sports model in Xiaomi's electric vehicle lineup. The company previously set an official lap record with the car at the Nürburgring circuit in Germany in the Electric Executive Car category.

Xiaomi has not yet disclosed specific release dates, trim options, or pricing details for the SU7 and SU7 Ultra in Germany. According to a reporter for Ukrainian news organization LIGA.net attending the IFA exhibition, company representatives indicated that Xiaomi is currently focusing on launching its automotive operations in Germany and other European countries in 2027.

Xiaomi is a Beijing-headquartered technology corporation widely known for producing smartphones, wearable devices, and smart home appliances. The annual IFA trade show in Berlin is one of the world's largest consumer electronics events, frequently serving as a launchpad for global tech firms introducing hardware to European markets.

European Expansion and Regional Market Context

While Xiaomi confirmed its intention to begin selling cars in Germany and broader European markets in 2027, the company has not named a launch date for introducing its electric vehicles to Ukraine. The regional rollout comes amid shifting market dynamics in Ukraine, where local demand for electric vehicles dropped 30-fold after December 2025.

Entering Germany places Xiaomi in direct competition with established European automakers on their home turf. The Nürburgring racetrack, where the SU7 Ultra achieved its class record, is widely recognized as the premier testing facility for automotive performance and dynamics.

The IFA 2026 trade fair featured several major developments across the electric vehicle industry. German automaker Volkswagen also presented its new electric ID. Polo model at the event, featuring a front-wheel electric drive available in three power outputs of 85 kW (116 hp), 99 kW (135 hp), and 155 kW (211 hp).

Outlook for Xiaomi Automotive

Xiaomi plans to focus on building out its dealership infrastructure and service capabilities ahead of its planned 2027 debut. The company intends to establish its commercial presence in Germany before expanding sales operations into additional European markets.
