Alianza Lima winger Kevin Quevedo has apologised to head coach Pablo Guede and his teammates in an attempt to work his way back into the first team, according to Peruvian journalist Kevin Pacheco.
The 29-year-old attacker has been left out of Alianza Lima's squad in recent matches of Peru's Torneo Clausura after falling out of favour with Guede's coaching staff.
Speaking on the programme 'Fútbol Satélite', Pacheco said he had information that Quevedo had apologised to the coach and to his teammates, and had taken the first step toward being reconsidered at Alianza Lima.
What Guede wants to see next
Guede had previously said publicly that he would not be counting on Quevedo. According to Pacheco, the player has since spoken with the Argentine coach, apologised, and made clear he would follow all instructions from the technical staff.
Pacheco said what mattered now was for Quevedo to back up the apology and the commitment he had expressed verbally by showing it in training, and to get himself physically fit.
Why the rift with Guede began
The main reasons behind the falling out between the player and the coach were that Quevedo failed to comply with the individual work plan set out during pre-season, along with his physical condition and a lack of willingness to adapt to the tactical demands set by the coaching staff.
