Ernesto Pimentel, performing as his character 'La Chola Chabuca,' called for justice for singer Naldy Saldaña and questioned the band La Bella Luz over its decision to keep performing amid the controversy.
Pimentel joined other voices in Peru's entertainment world expressing solidarity with Saldaña after she publicly accused César Sánchez Chaveta, the former musical director of the cumbia band and a cousin of Óscar Custodio, of alleged improper touching.
His comments came just hours after La Bella Luz, a band from Monsefú, returned to the stage with a concert in Tarapoto, a move that drew mixed reactions on social media.
On his program 'El Reventonazo de La Chola,' Pimentel dedicated a segment to Saldaña, showing a video compiling her best moments on the show. He praised her artistic and personal qualities beforehand, describing her as an incredible talent with great charm who was always willing to help.
Call for solidarity
Pimentel then addressed the complaint directly, saying he wanted to pause the show to tell Saldaña they stood with her and hoped the moment would lead to justice for her and empowerment for others who had faced similar situations in any area of life.
He also referred to the video Saldaña presented on Magaly Medina's program as evidence against Sánchez Chaveta, calling the footage painful images that force everyone to examine what is happening around them.
Pimentel reiterated his direct support for the 26-year-old artist, saying he embraced her and wished her not only justice but also the knowledge that her career and life would go on, since her talent, charm and youth remained intact.
Message to La Bella Luz
Pimentel closed by addressing La Bella Luz directly. While acknowledging the band's trajectory and the effort behind it, he said the questions being raised about its return to the stage were fully justified, adding that people wanted and needed justice for Saldaña.
