A 17-year-old teenager managed to escape after three minors attacked him with a knife and a broken glass bottle during an attempted robbery in Menidi.
The victim was taken to a nearby hospital, where medical staff administered first aid for injuries sustained during the violent encounter.
The teenager reported the attack to Greek news broadcaster Star on Monday, August 17, stating that the three assailants who targeted him appeared to be between 14 and 17 years old. Star Channel is a major national commercial network based in the neighboring northern Athens district of Kifisia.
According to the victim's account, the three youths confronted him in an effort to steal his belongings before escalating the assault with weapons. The attackers created a scene of intense panic using the knife and shattered bottle, but the teenager managed to break free and flee the scene.
Police investigation into youth violence
Greek police authorities launched an investigation into the violent incident and are actively searching for evidence to determine the exact circumstances of the robbery attempt. Detectives are working to establish the identities of the three young suspects and trace the full sequence of the attack.
Investigating officers are reviewing all available physical evidence and witness testimonies to clarify the specific role played by each individual involved. Police are placing particular weight on determining whether the group had planned the ambush in advance or if the assault occurred spontaneously at the location.
The incident adds to a broader series of violent encounters involving juveniles that have increasingly occupied Greek police and law enforcement in recent months. Menidi, officially known as Acharnes, is a large municipality situated at the foot of Mount Parnitha in northern Attica, approximately 10 kilometers north of central Athens.
No further details regarding the medical condition of the injured teenager have been released by hospital officials. Police inquiries remain ongoing as officers search for the three attackers.
