Actress Monica Barbaro has praised her boyfriend Andrew Garfield, calling him one of the best actors of his generation after working together on their upcoming film.
The 36-year-old actress spoke about her experience co-starring with the 42-year-old actor in the movie Artificial. The couple have been together for more than a year after coming close in February 2025.
In Artificial, Garfield plays OpenAI Chief Executive Officer Sam Altman. The film focuses on the events of 2023, when Altman was removed from the technology company and returned to his position a few days later.
Barbaro, who is an Oscar-nominated actress, plays Mira Murati in the film. Murati held the role of Chief Technology Officer at OpenAI during the 2023 events.
Filming Artificial and shared scenes
Barbaro said she learned a lot from the way Garfield approaches script material and builds a character. She noted that she felt very lucky to watch his process in real time.
The actress told People magazine that working alongside Garfield made her feel that she needed to prove her worth during their shared scenes. She said she thought she had to raise her own performance level to be a proper and worthy partner on set.
Barbaro and Garfield were recently photographed holding hands at an after-party following the premiere of her new movie, One Night Only.
