Deputy Head of the Ministry of Construction Nikita Stasishin said housing in Russia is in many respects better than business class housing in New York. Speaking on the Domclick service podcast Under One Roof, Stasishin made the comparison following a recent visit to New York to evaluate local real estate, according to RIA Novosti.
Stasishin stated that business class housing in New York is worse than homes constructed under individual programs in Russia. He said the level and quality of all housing types currently built in Russia could challenge any other country in technology.
Housing standards and market prices
Stasishin added that Russia no longer has economy class housing because standard housing is built according to best world practices. He acknowledged the advanced experience of Asian countries in construction technology, noting that Russia is also digitizing the industry.
Previously reported data shows that in September 2026, a one room apartment in a new building across Russia will cost between 6.7 million and 7.4 million rubles on average.
