A late-evening blackout on August 8 left nearly 99,000 subscribers without electricity across northern Ukraine, regional power distribution company Chernihivoblenergo reported on Telegram.

The outages affected residents in Chernihiv and Koryukivka districts. Chernihivoblenergo said an accident at an energy facility caused the blackout, which followed an air alert in the region.
Power infrastructure strikes
Electricity was also lost earlier in the Odesa district following strikes by Geran drones. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that virtually no intact thermal power plants remain standing in the country.
