Greek football club Olympiacos are finalizing the transfer of Venezuela midfielder Cristian Casseres from French team Toulouse for a fee of 10 million euros.

The Piraeus club was in advanced negotiations with Toulouse to secure the 26-year-old midfielder, with developments moving quickly to officially complete the deal for the Venezuela national team captain.
At the same time, Olympiacos are pursuing a deal for 23-year-old forward Gonzalez, with positive reports emerging from Mexico regarding the potential transfer. The Greek side has reached an agreement with the player, but must still secure approval from his club, Chivas Guadalajara, to finalize the transaction.
Midfield versatility and international experience
Casseres, who has earned 48 caps for the Venezuela national team, has been with Toulouse since 2023, when he transferred to the French Ligue 1 outfit from Major League Soccer team New York Red Bulls. Capable of playing across the midfield as a defensive midfielder, central midfielder, or attacking midfielder, he made 34 appearances for Toulouse last season, scoring two goals and providing five assists.
In total, Casseres has made 100 appearances for Toulouse across all competitions, recording four goals and 12 assists. During his time in MLS with New York, he featured in 126 matches, scoring 15 goals and contributing 13 assists.
Attacking reinforcement targets
Gonzalez enjoyed a prolific campaign last season, scoring 24 goals and providing two assists in 38 matches. Across his career with Mexican Liga MX side Chivas, the 23-year-old forward has made 69 appearances, recording 29 goals and four assists.
Reports from Greek sports outlet Gazzetta indicate that Olympiacos also remain open to the possibility of adding another striker to their squad before the transfer window closes. The move for Casseres and the ongoing pursuit of Gonzalez follow the club's official announcement earlier in the day confirming the signing of Swiss midfielder Remo Freuler.
