Russian state corporation Rosatom is negotiating the sale of a stake in the Akkuyu nuclear power plant project to external investors, Izvestia reported.
The Russian side may sell up to 49 percent in the project. The sale could be made either as a single package or to several companies.

Under the terms of an intergovernmental agreement concluded in 2010, the Russian side will maintain a share of at least 51 percent throughout the entire implementation of the project.
Previous Contenders and Construction
This is not the first attempt to transfer assets in the project. Businessman Ahmet Calik, who is close to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, was among the first contenders.
Deputy Chairman of the Russian Government Alexander Novak previously said Rosatom is continuing construction of Turkey's first Akkuyu nuclear power plant, effectively creating a new nuclear energy industry in the country.
