Spain wholesale electricity prices fell 9.73 percent on Wednesday, October 7, settling at an average of 182.33 euros per megawatt-hour. Data published by the Iberian Energy Market Operator (OMIE) serves as a key reference for consumers seeking to plan household appliance use and adjust daily energy habits.
Despite the daily drop compared with Tuesday, October 6, wholesale figures do not reflect the final price paid on consumer bills. Final household invoices also incorporate access tolls, system charges, and taxes.

The Iberian Energy Market Operator manages the wholesale electricity market across Spain and Portugal, setting hourly pool prices through daily marginal auctions. Household energy bills on Spain regulated tariff track these hourly market movements directly.
Wholesale energy trends following September highs
The price reduction comes after a costly month for Spanish energy consumers. September closed with the highest average electricity bill recorded in four years, averaging 104 euros for households on the regulated tariff.
Wholesale electricity rates surged toward the end of September to close at annual highs of 143.72 euros per megawatt-hour. Wednesday average of 182.33 euros per megawatt-hour remains elevated despite the single-day percentage decline, maintaining wide price gaps between peak and off-peak hours.
