A 30-year-old Moscow teacher named Nino spent about 3 million rubles on rent over four years while paying a mortgage on an apartment she could not move into, Telegram channel Shot reported.
Nino paid the rent while the previous owner refused to leave the two-room apartment. The rental costs amounted to one-third of the total purchase price of the property.
The former owner, a 68-year-old pensioner, set herself on fire during an eviction attempt by court bailiffs under the Dolina scheme. Nino said she visited the property with a bailiff, where the woman asked for one or two minutes to gather her belongings before the 40-square-meter apartment caught fire.

Nino noted that the entire building was at risk because it is connected to a gas supply. The pensioner was admitted to intensive care in a coma with burns over 70 percent of her body. The court bailiff who attempted to rescue her suffered severe burns to his hands.
It later emerged that the pensioner had set fire to a military enlistment office several years ago following instructions from scammers.
