The discussion between the two leaders was reported by Iran's Fars news agency. During the call, the Iranian side thanked Putin and other Russian officials for their support of the steadfastness and resistance of the Iranian people.

Both sides also emphasised the importance of maintaining strategic cooperation between Moscow and Tehran. They affirmed that future collaboration will proceed under a joint roadmap created by the senior leadership of both nations.

Russian mediation offer

The telephone dialogue followed statements from Dmitry Peskov, the press secretary for the Russian president. Peskov previously stated that Russia was ready to serve as a mediator in resolving the conflict between the United States and Iran.

Moscow has maintained diplomatic ties with Tehran while attempting to balance relations across the wider Middle East. Russia was one of the international powers involved in the 2015 multilateral nuclear negotiations with Iran, and Russian officials have frequently sought to act as diplomatic intermediaries between Tehran and Western capitals.

Iran security council and bilateral roadmap

Rezaei serves as the secretary of the Supreme National Security Council, the constitutional body responsible for defining Iran's national security, defense policy, and foreign relations under Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. A major figure in Iranian state affairs, Rezaei earlier served for sixteen years as the chief commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.

Ties between the Russian Federation and Iran have grown closer in recent years as both governments face sweeping Western economic sanctions. Moscow and Tehran have expanded their bilateral cooperation through joint trade corridors, energy agreements, and shared diplomatic initiatives designed to counteract international isolation.

Under the bilateral framework highlighted during the phone call, both administrations intend to pursue their joint strategic roadmap to guide future high level contacts and regional policy.
