Ukraine's parliament, the Verkhovna Rada, has voted to reappoint Andrii Sybiha as the country's minister of foreign affairs.
A total of 266 lawmakers supported the parliamentary vote in Kyiv, confirming Sybiha in the key diplomatic post for a second time.

Speaking before parliament ahead of the vote, Sybiha outlined the main priorities for the foreign ministry, highlighting the pursuit of a fair peace alongside accession to both the European Union and NATO.
Sybiha told lawmakers that Ukraine had to fight for everything, including every missile, every cluster, every new market for exporters, every sanction decision, and every energy package. He added that Ukrainian diplomacy was fully prepared for that fight in coordination with parliamentary diplomacy.

Parliamentary vote and government timeline
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy officially submitted Sybiha's candidacy for foreign minister to the Verkhovna Rada on August 18.
The confirmation follows Sybiha's dismissal from office by parliament on July 16. For more than a month after that vote, he served as acting minister in the new government led by Prime Minister Serhiy Koretskyi.
Ahead of the vote, the ruling Servant of the People party supported the government appointments of Sybiha and Khmara, according to statements by party official Arakhamia.
Foreign policy priorities and legislative role
The ministry of foreign affairs manages Ukraine's diplomatic relations and international strategy. Membership in the European Union and NATO represents a major political and security objective for the Ukrainian government.
Joining the EU and NATO requires extensive diplomatic negotiations, regulatory alignment, and ratification by member nations. Parliamentary diplomacy involves members of the Verkhovna Rada working with foreign legislatures to build political and economic backing for Ukraine.
Under Ukrainian constitutional procedures, ministerial appointments require majority approval in the 450-seat Verkhovna Rada. The vote of 266 deputies gives Sybiha a renewed mandate to lead the foreign ministry within the cabinet of Prime Minister Koretskyi.
