Artificial intelligence developer Anthropic saw its projected annualised revenue pass $65 billion at the end of July, according to a person familiar with the matter speaking on Monday.
The figure marks a rapid increase for the company behind the Claude chatbot, which recorded $47 billion in projected annualised revenue in May and $9 billion at the end of last year.
The financial metric calculates annual performance by extrapolating current revenue levels over a full twelve-month period. In the technology sector, annualised run rates are widely monitored by private software companies and investors to track business growth based on current sales velocity.
Long term revenue projections and public listing plans
Looking further ahead, Anthropic projects revenue for 2028 of approximately $190 billion to $200 billion, Reuters reported on Friday. The valuation for the company's planned initial public offering will depend directly on those long term forecasts, according to the news agency.
Earlier this year, Anthropic submitted a confidential filing for an initial public offering of stock. Under US regulatory rules, filing confidentially allows a company to initiate the paperwork review process with securities regulators while keeping internal financial records private until public marketing begins.
Valuation surges following Series H funding round
The surging revenue figures follow a sharp increase in the market valuation of the company. Anthropic was valued at $965 billion in May after raising $65 billion in a Series H venture funding round.
That May valuation represented more than double the $380 billion valuation the business held in February. Late-stage funding rounds such as Series H provide substantial capital to mature technology firms prior to an eventual public listing.
Anthropic, founded as an artificial intelligence research and safety company, produces large language models that power conversational software. Its primary product, Claude, competes across corporate and consumer markets, serving as one of the major commercial alternatives in the global artificial intelligence sector.
