British stand-up comedian Mo Gilligan revealed he was shocked after discovering that a food additive used in fast food chicken burgers is also used in condom lubricant.
Gilligan made the discovery while filming Big Chicken: A Fast Food Conspiracy, a documentary created for the Netflix streaming platform, according to a report by The Sun newspaper.

Speaking to the publication, Gilligan explained that he had spent several days interviewing a wide range of experts. He asked whether members of the public realized that an ingredient present in chicken burgers is also applied to condoms as a lubricant, noting that food producers rely on numerous artificial components to boost flavor and keep customers returning.
Additive E900 and its dual uses
The chemical ingredient specified in the report is food additive E900, also known by its chemical name polydimethylsiloxane. In commercial fast food kitchens, the additive is routinely mixed into deep-frying oil to stop foam from building up when cooking food at high temperatures.
Polydimethylsiloxane is a silicon-based polymer widely utilized for its surface-tension properties. In addition to serving as an anti-foaming agent in food processing, the same silicone fluid is applied to condoms to act as a protective lubricant.
Gilligan noted that he was initially thrilled when producers offered him the role in the fried chicken project because he is a fan of the meal. However, he added that gaining deeper insight into fast food ingredients left him feeling deeply disappointed.
Documentary background and burger pricing
Gilligan is a well-known television host and stand-up comic in the United Kingdom who has fronted several major entertainment shows. His documentary with Netflix explores the fast food industry, focusing on food production standards, artificial additives, and commercial practices.
The coverage follows previous reports of consumer reactions to fast food costs. Russian internet personality Ilya Belov voiced surprise at burger prices in the United States, complaining after paying more than two thousand rubles for a single burger at an American store.
