Minas Gerais Legislative Assembly election
Minas Gerais is Brazil's second most populous state, situated in the southeastern region of the country. The state's legislative assembly, the Assembleia Legislativa de Minas Gerais, meets in the capital of Belo Horizonte to draft state laws, review executive policies, and approve state spending. State deputies are elected to four year terms under an open list proportional representation system, where votes cast for individual contenders also determine the total number of seats allocated to each political party.
Avante is a registered national political party in Brazil, assigned the electoral number 70. Under Brazilian electoral regulations, all state deputy candidates running on the party ticket share this two digit party identifier as the first two numbers of their five digit ballot codes.
