Jose Mourinho introduces three new rules at Real Madrid

Real Madrid head coach Jose Mourinho has introduced three new discipline rules for players following a season without winning any trophies. Xabi Alonso and Alvaro Arbeloa led the club during the previous campaign, which was one of its worst in years. The 63-year-old Portuguese manager understands the pressure on him and has acted to change team standards.

Spanish newspaper AS reported that the squad approved all three new regulations. Under the new rules, financial fines for lateness have been eliminated. Players who arrive at the Real Madrid facility less than 60 minutes before training must complete a mandatory solo workout in the gym without the group, with no exceptions or hierarchy.

Nutrition and injury rehabilitation

Mourinho also changed squad nutrition policies. The team nutritionist will no longer just advise players, but will strictly set menus for breakfast and snacks. Players are required to sit down for meals together to build stronger bonds.

All player rehabilitation must now take place at the Valdebebas training complex. Although players may continue working with personal trainers, both morning and afternoon recovery sessions must occur at the facility. Players cannot receive external treatments and must consult all procedures with the club and coaching staff.

Preseason friendly matches and La Liga opening

Most players have returned to training following the World Cup. Real Madrid recently played a friendly match against Fiorentina that ended in a 2-2 draw. The team will play three more friendlies against Ferencvaros on August 8, Deportivo La Coruna on August 12, and FC Schalke 04 on August 16 before opening their La Liga season against Espanyol on August 22.
