Kirill Dmitriev Says Name Ceuta Shacks After EU Officials

Russian presidential envoy Kirill Dmitriev suggested naming beach shacks built by migrants in Ceuta after European Union officials who favor migration. Dmitriev serves as the special representative of the President of Russia for investment and economic cooperation with foreign countries and leads the Russian Direct Investment Fund.

Writing on social network X, Dmitriev stated that each shack should be named after a pro-migration EU official to celebrate a great symbiotic multicultural and architectural enrichment. He was commenting on a post by blogger Mario Nawfal showing footage of shacks that Nawfal said illegal migrants built on a beach in Ceuta out of sticks and branches.

Ceuta Migration Crisis

The Spanish enclave of Ceuta, located on the northern coast of Africa, was at the center of its largest migration crisis since 2021 at the end of July. Thousands of people from Morocco and other countries broke through the land border, swam around coastal barriers, and arrived on city beaches.

Dmitriev previously told migrants who entered Spain to seek out European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen to thank her in person.
