The Greek Left Coalition political party led by Alexis Tsipras has launched a documentary trilogy in Greece as a new form of political communication. According to an official announcement from the party, also known as ELAS, the three-part series aims to reconnect politics with the real experiences and expectations of everyday citizens.
The initiative features three interconnected episodes titled The Sign of Politics, The Hope of Overturn, and The Hour of Responsibility. Party officials said the project moves away from conventional political campaigning by adopting cinematic techniques, observational documentary methods, and personal oral narratives.
Alexis Tsipras, who previously served as Prime Minister of Greece, established the Greek Left Coalition as a political movement. The party is seeking to engage voters through alternative media strategies and non-traditional messaging formats to address growing public detachment from traditional politics.
Production by young volunteers
The party reported that the documentary trilogy was designed and produced entirely by volunteers. A team of young artists, film directors, cinematographers, and students carried out the filming and structuring of the overall narrative.
According to ELAS, the production team used a handmade aesthetic to convey social concerns, personal struggles, and political hope with directness and clarity while avoiding traditional political clichés. The initiative was developed under the scientific supervision and creative coordination of Fani Kountouri, an Associate Professor of Political Science and Communication.
The three documentary episodes
The first episode, The Sign of Politics, focuses on Alexis Tsipras through a personal internal monologue and reflective memories. Rather than serving as a conventional biography or a review of his past political career, the film examines the current direction of politics and the meaning of public responsibility, making the individual a starting point rather than the final destination.
The second episode, The Hope of Overturn, shifts attention to younger generations. Young participants discuss employment, housing shortages, economic uncertainty, and delayed personal plans. ELAS stated that the voices in the episode connect political hope with the practical ability of citizens to plan their futures and participate in shaping society.
Collective action and future outlook
The final installment, The Hour of Responsibility, explores how individual life paths merge into collective political action. The narrative culminates in the formal creation of the Greek Left Coalition.
People of various ages and backgrounds share their perspectives on civic engagement, personal responsibility, and the necessity of a fresh social beginning. The party noted that the episode presents the new organization through its active participants rather than relying solely on its formal organizational structure.
